I’m staying in Pamukkale; what would be the most practical transportation plan to go to the Covered Bazaar in Denizli in the late afternoon, do comfortable shopping, and then return?
It makes sense to go from Pamukkale to the Covered Bazaar in central Denizli in the late afternoon, because once the pace of work picks up, the shopkeepers in the city center become more active and shopping can be done more “by strolling.” Since the Covered Bazaar is close to the central bazaar area of Denizli, the easiest way is to first connect the transfer to the center, then proceed with short walks from there. In this way, you save time and when you head back, you deal with less city traffic.
A practical plan could be set up like this: from Pamukkale to Denizli, take a local minibus/bus or a taxi to first drop off near the Denizli Bus Terminal or the Train Station area, then walk to the bazaar district. If you go by bus, it’s a good idea to check the departure times of the same lines for your return before you go. A taxi, on the other hand, is the most comfortable option when you’re tired in the late afternoon. Also, structure your shopping as “first small souvenirs, then textiles/accessories” so that waiting at the checkout is shorter. If you leave from the bazaar area toward the time the workplaces start closing, it will be easier to find transportation and you won’t have to rush in the uphill sections and crowds. For food and drinks, around the Covered Bazaar, the cafes and tradesmen’s restaurants along the Cumhuriyet Caddesi line are good for sitting in the late afternoon; giving yourself short breaks while you stroll around the bazaar will make your route even more enjoyable.
